Foxmarks 0.50 Released

Today we released Foxmarks 0.50, a maintenance release that fixes a number of bugs and makes a number of improvements to the synchronization algorithm. Users who have large bookmark collections may find that this version of Foxmarks operates more quickly.

Instructions for upgrading to the new version can be found here.

  1. In the meantime using 0.51. What I sometimes do not like is the prompt for the master password for Firefox every time when I only have started the browser. Would there be a workaround, e.g. choose to store the Foxmarks password in the extension prefs dir instead of in the password repository of Firefox?

  2. Sander,

That's definitely something to consider. We think it's really important to keep the UI as simple as possible but no simpler, so we won't be taking the "kitchen sink" approach to adding features.

Nonetheless, I think you could probably make an argument for this setting, though, since the users who experience the problem you describe really are inconvenienced.

    Thanks for the idea.

  3. I am right there with the master password ... most definitely annoying.

  4. @Jon:

For now, either disable your master password or disable Foxmarks' automatic sync.

  5. hmmm... which to disable... I was hoping there was an actual solution... as opposed to a workaround. Thanks. I think I'd rather deal with it than disable either.

  7. I just want to put in my vote for this feature. The master password dialog has gotten very annoying.
