Server Upgrade: This time, we really mean it!

Yes, you've heard our warnings and forecasts before. But this time we're serious. At 8pm PDT this evening (Monday, October 16) we will be turning off the server so that we can complete the upgrade that we started this weekend. We expect to be down for only a few hours, and when we return, we hope to be running our new server.

For those interested, I'll be posting more comments here as we go. And a reminder: during the time the server is down, you won't be able to create a new account, synchronize, or view your bookmarks online.

  1. It's 8PM. As promised, the server is now offline as we commence our upgrade.

  2. Still down? Will you be back up before dawn?

  3. @Jack:

    Before someone's dawn, certainly. ;-)

It's going well now. I expect we'll be back online within 2 hours.

  5. The new server is partially up now. It is responding to read requests right now. So you can view your bookmarks and download bookmarks.

If things go well, we'll enable writes (which will enable synchronization) in just a bit. And if THAT goes okay, we'll allow new account signups.

  6. Okay, we've re-enabled writes, so users can now synchronize.

  7. Awesomeness!

I use the extension for synchronising my bookmarks from my two home computers, as well as synchronising my bookmarks on my portable firefox.

It's a true timesaver, rather than having to export & import bookmarks all the time.
