With the recent release of Firefox 2.0.0.4, the official Firefox Addons Site appears to have been overwhelmed by traffic; no extensions can be downloaded from the official site right now.
If you're trying to download Foxmarks, you won't be able to get it via the standard mechanisms until the Mozilla team can wrangle this problem under control. In the meantime, you can download directly from our site. (Note that you'll probably have to click the "Edit options..." button that appears near the top of your browser window, click "Add site", click "OK" and then try the link above again).
Thank you. It worked like a charm. Hopefully the product will work too!-)
ReplyDeletePlease help: I can download the program, but I keep getting error messages no matter what I do when I try to create the account using the Wizard. It keeps saying that my username is already used and to check to see if I have an existing account. But when I do, it says it can't verify my account. I have tried numerous times on different computers.
ReplyDeleteWhat could be the problem? I really want this program!
Thanks.
I don't know how, but tried it again and it worked! First went to My Account and saw that I did have an account. Then just logged in on the Wizard and it worked. So glad!
ReplyDeletefirefox 2.0.0.4 seems to think this extension and others are installed and enabled. but on re-start, none of them are "running" or "available". something must not be set up correctly in my settings? any advise?
ReplyDelete@nachi:
ReplyDeleteIf this is happening across extensions, it's most likely a Firefox problem, in which case you should take up the question with Mozilla support.

I am having a similar problem as Ilene. I've tried to create an account from two different computers now, and the message I get after entering all my account information is "Cannot find content/location". Suggestions?
ReplyDeleteI am having a similar problem as Irene. I've tried to create an account from two different computers now, and the message I get after entering all my account information is "Cannot find content/location". Suggestions?
ReplyDeleteI am having similar problems as Ilene, as well. I have tried creating an account using the wizard. and the wizard seems to be stuck at "creating account". After over 30 minutes, I canceled that and checked online to find I had created an account. But, when I try to use the wizard to verify, it hangs up there, with "verifying account" again.
ReplyDeletePlease help?

ReplyDeleteWhen I try to download I get that the download does not have a security signature. How do I know I'm getting the download from a valid site?
ReplyDeleteThanks.
@Virginia:
ReplyDeleteYou don't. AFAIK, it's not possible to sign an extension for deployment from the Firefox Addons site. Have you ever seen an extension that was signed?
Can I create multiple accounts? This is a great way to allow teachers to share bookmarks for different grades.
ReplyDelete@Geoff:
ReplyDeleteYou can create multiple accounts, but it's a mess to manage.
I successfully downloaded foxmarks to my PC in my office, but I'm not having the same luck trying to download to the Mac OS X I use at home. When I click the download button, a file foxmarks_bookmark_synchronizer-1.0.1-fx.xpi appears on my desktop, but then nothing else happens. I even tried using Stuffit to open the file, but then couldn't open the install.rdf file inside... What am I doing wrong?
ReplyDeleteI'm receiving a message today when foxmarks tries to update that it has lost the master file on your end. Then it asks if I want to create a new master from my current broswer... I say yes, it tries to do it, but then reports that this is not allowed.
ReplyDeleteSo for now, I guess, I'm no longer backed up on foxmarks...
It's a great idea. I hope this is only a temporary glitch.
Best...
Hey, I've been using foxmarks for a LONG time I LOVE IT!! It's so amazing. I just rebuilt my vista machine, and I installed it (being one of my primary favorite add-ons) and I try and sync, it says it synced successfully but I don't have my bookmarks. is there possibly a reason why this is happening? HELP! =D
ReplyDeleteI don't know what's happening but I can't get a good synchronization, every time I close the Firefox in any of my 3 machines it gives me an error when try to synchronize Foxmarks, could there be a server problem? Help me please!
ReplyDelete@Helder:
ReplyDeleteNo, there are no server problems; more likely it's a network problem on your end. Contact customer support for assistance.
I HAD 500+ bookmarks. Several months research. I follow your instructions when I was informed by 'Foxmarks' that my database had become corrupted.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, you instructions where unclear; and they're all GONE!!
I have been computer literate since B4 MicroSoft was just gleam in Mrs. Gates' eye...B4 'CP/M', & I don't think its my fault. Thought you should know. J/A/S

By the way I did not get a Status ?, instead I got a status synchronizing .. that just hung forever with no feedback, until I hit cancel. Same thing if I tried uploading or downloading - it would say it was doing that (Downloading ... or Uploading ....), but just hang forever. Moreover, trying to do account management it said I couldn't be verified. Etc.
ReplyDeleteNonetheless, the same thing worked for me (OS X): I uninstalled Foxmarks and went and got it and reinstalled it. My existing bookmarks stored there were preserved. Now it works again.
As with anything new, I would strongly recommend you backup your bookmarks at least a couple times until you're sure it's working perfectly. That way you only lose a little bookmarking at very worst.
