Unfortunately, we're continuing to have operational difficulties keeping up with incoming traffic from the new version of the synchronizer, and there have also been a few reports of data integrity issues which we are investigating.
In the meantime, we're working to make sure that Foxmarks v1.0.1 continues to be viable for everyone.
Again, our apologies for the inconvenience. We really appreciate your patience as we work through this.
Hi, I notice when I perform updates to Firefox, they don't roll out the change to everyone all at once. I don't know how Firefox prioritizes it, but they seem to only invite some users to download updates. I have three PCs running Firefox and they are not allowed to update all at the same time. I have a to wait a day or two on some PCs.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I think its a good idea to keep download files on a different server so the same service doesn't fail if everyone hits it quickly.
After I installed FoxMarks v2 on my computers I was having problem syncing. I downgraded and... same problem. Nothing is transfering.
ReplyDeleteHope this gets resolved soon.
Great product.

I am aslo unable to sync 1st woth v2 and now with v1.0.1.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I keep losing a few bookmarks. If that keeps up, I'm going to drop Foxmarks, even though the concept is great.
Hey!
ReplyDeleteThis is not very impressive!
Please post a method to STOP the non-functioning "Upgrade" from trying to sync. It won't stop and its destabilizing/slowing my browser and bandwidth.
Can I undo this crappy "upgrade" to the previous working version until you figure this out.
Good idea ... very poor execution.
I will be watching with all the rest of us with that icon that never stops showing the failed connection.
@James A. Ireland:
ReplyDeleteWe're working feverishly to enable a server-side fix like what you describe; for now, you (and anyone else) has the option of visiting https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2410 to install the previous version of the Foxmarks extension, though you may still see some issues connecting to the Foxmarks server.
We'll keep you all posted.
But I've tried reinstalling the old version and it no longer works!
ReplyDeleteI love this Add On. Sorry to see you guys are having trouble.
ReplyDeleteI hope you can resolve it soon
Fixed !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteIMHO; to any who would desert this fantastic (and might I remind you all FREE add in), it's your loss.

Correction: I've just re-installed 1.01 again (3rd time today) and it now appears to be working - at least on the single pc I've tried so far.
ReplyDeleteKeeping fingers crossed and head up for news of any further news/upgrades.
> It won’t stop
ReplyDeleteFlamebait? I'm not seeing this specific issue on my workstations.
FoxMarks 2 will try to sync, lose network connection, then stop. Then the icon just stays a white X (blue background) with white questions (red background). Its not taking up bandwidth when the status is "Foxmarks has encountered an error."
Sorry to hear you are having problems guys - stick with it!!
ReplyDelete@everyone who is moaning and threatening to give up on Foxmarks - remember how much you have paid for it. It's a superb tool, and deserves our support.
Just upgraded to 2.0.30 here and I've got the red question mark icon now. Tried to synch and it failed saying 'not found'. I logged into http://my.foxmarks.com and logged in to verify my bookmarks still exist there and they do. Just in case, I backed up my bookmarks locally (a good idea once in a while even with Foxmarks).
ReplyDeleteHope you guys/gals get this issue sorted. IMO the Foxmarks add-on is one of the best and I appreciate your efforts!
well i got 2.0.30 to sync properly .. i was login my.foxmarks.com account at the time all went ok.. tried it not been login and would not sync but when loin it sync again...
ReplyDeletehope this helps a few...
Regards
MusTangAu
MusTangAu's method worked for me. It was about 30 seconds start to finish but it worked. Thanks! :-)
ReplyDeleteSync works today, but I have V2 on my home PC and V1 at work. Will my work PC automatically update to V2 at some point? Thanks,
ReplyDeleteRichard
@Richard: Version 1 and version 2 store your bookmarks data in different places, so you'll need to have the same version on all your browsers for the data to be synchronized properly among them.
ReplyDeleteWith regards to the above comment from Eric re: different storage places for the foxmarks data from version 1 to 2 - would this explain why my version 2 on my work PC is not syncing with my version 1 on my 2 Macs at home?
ReplyDeleteIf so also - when will version 2 for Mac be available?
Great product by the way - keep up the good work
Cheers.. Liam
@Liam Kelly: Yes, that would definitely explain the behavior you're seeing--all your Firefox browsers need to have the same version to work together properly. You can download version 2 for any Firefox browser at the link provided in our later blog post.
ReplyDeleteHi there
ReplyDeleteI love Foxmarks and really appreciate the time you are spending to sort out this syncing issue.
Ignore the negative comments - you are doing a great job - can't wait till it's sorted though.
Thanks, Craig! We've worked through most of the problems on the servers, though, so if you're still experiencing any synchronization issues, please send us your foxmarks.log file
