Haven't seen Charlie complain/post in a while, so I thought I'd try upgrading from 1.0.1 now. (I sync with my own webdav server.)
I accidentally ignored the setup wizard, and filled in the Preferences dialog manually and manually uploaded to my server.
It turns out that everything is working correctly. The .json file got created, and when I updated my second system, it sync'ed with the .json file exactly as advertised.
I'm not sure what you're talking about but as of December 23rd this plugin is still COMPLETELY BROKEN.
Your comment that it's back to normal made be re-update to v2, and it was a complete waste of time! It just hangs there for hours, either verifying or downloading...
Now, I understand that you have problems with version 2, but PLEASE take of the clown nose and shoes, and only tell us that it's working when it's REALLY working again.
I loved your work up to 1.0.1, but the way you're handling this upgrade is faaaaar from good, even for a "free" plugin. Some consideration for people's time please!
Working no bother for me :) The first day it took a while to sync etc as i have over 3000 bookmarks all in folders with loads of tags etc. Now it syncs much faster like in a few secs if no changes and 10 or so if a few changes.
It's working silky smooth today with my ~ 200 bookmarks.... nice work....
And as a fellow server admin, i can say i totally appreciate the hard work that went into this whole upgrade of a product that we all don't pay one single penny for.... people like the 3 posts above should just move on and use something else instead of be such an unappreciative asshole, but people like him will never ever "get it", all they care about are themselves and the hell with everyone else
Todd, took your advice from the 10:17am post of Dec 23 re "proxy problem". This has fixed the "hang/stall" problem from the auto sync. There hasn't, since your maintenance, been a problem with the forced sync. Thanks for all your effort and posts.
Todd, thank you for suggesting checking the proxy settings. I had completely forgotten about those settings. And by the way, thank you for a great product. I want you to know that I really appreciate your hard work and generosity.
Glad things are looking as if they're coming down for you guys. Time for some sleep soon?
ReplyDeleteMy upgrade experience: it was fine, the odd timeout but nothing to much to worry about (especially for a free product!!).
Good job on the FAQs too - might appease some of the moaners.
@Godai71:
ReplyDeleteThat's totally normal.

I am still having issues with the upgrades not syncing. It just times out.
ReplyDeleteIt works occasionally on some computers I just upgraded this one and it won't sync.

I really appreciate and value this software.

ReplyDeleteI'm getting a "network timeout error" after changing the proxy as described. Any ideas?
