Syncing in Seattle? We Need You!

UPDATE: All slots have been filled, but if you're interested in participating in future studies, please sign up via the link below. Thanks to all who helped us out!

We're looking for Foxmarks users in Seattle to participate in a usability study that we will be conducting next week (July 7-11). We will be testing some of our latest features as well as improvements to a few existing ones, and are keen on learning what you think!

To participate, you need to have been a Foxmarks user for at least a month and should be able to get to the U-District in Seattle to spend an hour with us next week (July 7-11). We respect your time and will compensate you with $50 for the hour that you spend with us. If you're interested, please write to us and let us know (a) the times when you'll be free next week and (b) your Foxmarks username. We only have 10 slots available for this study, so hurry!

  1. Early evening Monday-Wednesday would be best.
    I'm "snarkulous".

  2. Would love to help you guys, but the journey from Norway to Seattle just a bit too far.

    What new features can we expect? I would love to have history, password and maybe cookies synchronized between my browsers.

  3. History may be a bit much... cookies and passwords could be nice though(if you have them stored; I don't. I'd rather have the password in my "physical" memory in case I lose all my stuff).

    Mmmm... cookies. ^.^

  4. What would also be useful would be synchronising Firefox bookmarks with (well, just to?) my IE ones. On the few times I use IE my bookmarks are so out of date I need to launch FIrefox to find the URL to open in IE.

    Even better .. the ability to format those (sunchronised) "IE" Favourites so that Fiorefox would launch instead ;-}

  5. @Ludwig: Is the Foxmarks IE extension what you're looking for?

    As for launching Firefox when an IE Favorite is clicked, you might just need to set your Windows file association so that Firefox is the default browser, though I may be misunderstanding your desire.

  6. @eric: I think he meant clicking the favorite from within IE, rather than one on the desktop or in Explorer. I think there is something you can install which allows that, but I don't know for sure(it's definitely not an included feature in IE; why would they want favorites in IE opened in Firefox? XD ).

    So, how did the first day of the study go? (A question for the future, perhaps?) ^.^

  7. @Nobu: Thanks for the clarification! I'm also fuzzy on any potential solutions for that, unfortunately.

    And, yes, more a question for the future. Stay tuned!

  8. In looking through the comments above & other pages of your site I did not see a way to host the bookmark file on a local machine to my lan. I do not need to access the bookmarks via the internet from other locations & simply want them contained inside my lan.

    Perhaps I am missing something. The utility does appear to meet all the basic needs with that one exception.
