We're excited to announce the launch of Foxmarks Community Forums, a public place where Foxmarks users can discuss new ideas, ask for help, or simply listen in on the Foxmarks conversation.
Our forums are hosted by Get Satisfaction, a fast-growing service that is focused on helping companies and customers have honest, transparent and meaningful discussions--a perfect fit for Foxmarks.
Before you start using our forums, there are some important things you should know:
- We're listening: Our customer support team and several other employees are monitoring the forums regularly.
- Don't post your sensitive information!: Please note that these forums are public and you should never post your username, password, or email address (or any other personal information) on this site. If we need any such information to resolve your problem, we will ask you to contact us directly via email.
- Post issues and ideas: If you have a problem, we encourage you to post it to our forums so others who are having the same issue can learn how to resolve it. The same goes for new ideas, so that others can join in with their support or additional suggestions.
- Search before you post: We encourage you to search our community forum before reporting a problem or posting a new idea, as it may already exist. If it does, feel free to contribute to the conversation.
- Help others: If you see a post about a problem and you think you have the answer, please respond! We will respond as quickly as we can, but appreciate your help--we're firm believers in the wisdom of crowds.

My foxmarks will not synch. I have tried the about:config suggestion, reinstalled foxmarks, and the log file says:

Thank you for creating such an amazing plug-in for firefox. Thanks so much, it makes life much easier! Keep up the good work.
ReplyDeleteIn looking through the comments on the blog site & other pages of your site I did not see a way to host the bookmark file on a local machine to my lan. I do not need to access the bookmarks via the internet from other locations & simply want them contained inside my lan.
ReplyDeletePerhaps I am missing something. The utility does appear to meet all the basic needs with that one exception.
A suggestion did come in that I would have to create a server, which I already have, & that perhaps I should post here for a better answer. So here is the post.

Foxmarks is as great as the bookmark syncing we can do on the Safari.
ReplyDeleteThis is how to make it better than Safari: Allow users to sync sessions stored by Session Manager as well.
Published bookmarks currently do not collapse folders.
ReplyDeleteWhen I publish a deep hierarchy of bookmarks it looks unruly :)
Thank you,
Daniel
hi, i have already posted the sync error problem in getsatisfaction.com when i noticed that one can also post here.
ReplyDeleteas Al Kolkin has posted, there is definitely a synching error with foxmarks. it's happening with all my computers at home and at work.
Hi,
ReplyDeleteFirst thanks for this app. It's very helpful and awesome.
But why does it need third party cookies for sync? I really don‘t like to allow any third party cookies in Firefox. Would be nice if this could be changed.
Bye

I just installed Foxfire 3 and now my foxmarks do not appear as bookmarks and I have to go to foxmarks.com just to get my bookmarks. It kind of sucks. Any ideas.
ReplyDelete@saru: Sounds like synchronization isn't working for you. Check http://getsatisfaction.com/foxmarks for guidelines to fix any synchronization errors you're seeing.
ReplyDeleteI like the profiles feature. The only problem I have with it is that I can only categorize (home, work) the bookmarks at the top level. I can't drill down into the folders and categorize individual bookmarks. Has there been any discussion around enhancing profiles to provide this granularity?
ReplyDeleteAnother suggestion. I think it is great that I can go to any computer, install Firefox, add Foxmarks, and presto! I have all my bookmarks. But then I have to go about adding my favorite extensions and making a few other tweaks. It would be great if in addition to bookmarks the entire profile could be sync'ed. Not sure how the extensions / themes installation could be completely automated, but it would be nice.
@Jeff: There is great irony in your comment, as both of your comments are being discussed at length in the Get Satisfaction forums that this post was about. Go check 'em out there!
ReplyDeleteGet rid of Get (no) Satisfaction. Last thing I need is another social network to have to login to. Just to leave a suggestion I had to go through this lengthy path ending up with "please register". Bye - bailed out immediately - never go back.
ReplyDeleteI want Foxmarks to simplify my life. I don't like feature creep and really don't like getting shoved off to another entirely different site just to leave a suggestion.
I ended up using Google to find out why I can't use favicons with Foxmarks, only to see that supposedly they do work, though not for me. Now I'm getting annoyed just trying to find an answer to a relatively simple issues. UGH!
One last worry. How do you plan to monetize this site? As soon as you start shoving ads in my face, I'm out the door. I can tolerate Gmail's ads, though I just installed a blocker add-on for that! But much beyond that is bad.
If you can't monetize the service, how can I be sure you'll stick around?
Tnx, Jeff
To clarify my last post - favicons don't appear in the Foxmarks management page, so if there's no accompanying text, I can't discern one from another in classic view. I often delete text to save space on my toolbar and rely just on the favicon.
ReplyDeletethe download good thanks
ReplyDelete:)
Any chance of adding and add-on synchronizer?
ReplyDeletePas de problème pour synchroniser, mais un gros manque: Reminderfox n'est pas synchronisé? CE QUI POUR UN AGENDA ME SEMBLE INDISPENSABLE
