Xmarks 3.3 for Firefox released

We're pleased to announce the latest upgrade of Xmarks for Firefox is now available. This version is mostly bug fixes, but includes one cool new feature. Behold the new Restore tab in your Xmarks settings dialog:

[caption id="attachment_1136" align="aligncenter" width="362" caption=" "]Restore previous bookmark sets from Xmarks Settings[/caption]

Ever since we launched Restore last year, we've wished it was a little easier to find. For those of you who don't know about Restore, we archive a snapshot of your bookmarks each time you make a change, and we store that archive for at least 6 months on our servers. Now from the Restore tab you can browse, view, and restore your full bookmark set from these snapshots. You can also see your entire set of backups anytime or anywhere: just visit my.xmarks.com and choose "Explore and Restore Old Bookmarks" in the Tools menu.

Other significant changes in this release:

  • Fixed occasional duplication issue with cross-browser sync and merge

  • Allow login via email address

  • Better general compatibility with other Firefox add-ons

  • Fixed rare error where users could not log into some websites

If you've downloaded from our servers you should receive upgrade notices today or tomorrow; Mozilla Add-Ons should start sending upgrade notices in the next few days. If you don't want to wait, you can start now by going to our download page. Enjoy!

(Note to our Chrome fans: your wait is nearly over! Patience!)

  2. Great feature that Restore.

This program/extension has it all; now only more browser support!

  3. I had already used the Restore function in the past, using the web interface. Nice to see it integrated on the UI.

I am only waiting for the Chrome support to arrive ASAP in order to move out to that browser :)

Thank you all for your hard work.

  4. Thank you for your product, it's great.

Can you add an option to make suggested tags automatically checked? For a lot of peoples' browsing workflows I think it is must-have feature.

Also - Getsatisfaction is nice (it caught my above 'idea' as not being unique) but I shouldn't have to make an account to provide feedback that is a hassle.

  5. I've never used the Restore feature. I didn't know it was there. Thanks for the update and making me aware.

  6. I wish there was a way to delete old sets of bookmarks. I can think of a number of reasons (e.g. subpoena from divorce lawyer) why some of us don't want every single iteration of our bookmarks stored.

  7. @Jack22: there is a way, although it isn't pretty. If you delete your Xmarks account, all your data goes away. You could then create a new account, effectively erasing your sync history. Please be aware, however, that account names cannot be recycled, so you would need to choose a new username.

  9. Hi, I really love xMarks, since it was FoxMarks! I really wish to find a Firefox's add-on which could backup my browser's information, such as complements, settings and themes, allowing sync of them. Couldn't you improve this on xMarks, just like FEBE does (but locally only)? Thank you and congratulations for the great work!

  10. Xmarks is super and an absolutely must-have add-on ! I love it...

But... (always a "but"..) I have a problem since the last version (v3.3.2) with FF 3.5.2 : in the menu "Synchronisation" - under "synchronisation when FF close" --- always ask --- it is IMPOSSIBLE to indicate "always ask" --- same with "automatic synchronisation" impossible to indicate this !!! both are coming "empty" again...

Sorry I've done my best with my "english".. hopefully it is undersandable ?? or not ??

Thanks if somebody can help me...
