Xmarks: Alive and Kicking

You're still alive, she said
Oh, and do I deserve to be
Is that the question
And if so...if so...who answers...who answers...
I, oh, I'm still alive!

from Alive by Pearl Jam

I'm pleased to announce that we're in the final stages of completing a sale of Xmarks to a new owner who is 100% committed to keep our great browser sync service running smoothly.

The Xmarks service will evolve to have both a free component and a premium component - we'll share all the details once the deal is done. For all of you that signed our pledge, or are asking us to reopen the pledge, please hold that thought. When we update the service we'll have a premium option for you to spend some of your hard earned money on, and we will be very thankful when you do!

I can't provide more details just yet, but I wanted to publish this update to let you all know that we're alive and kicking and things are on track for a "new and improved" Xmarks.

Regards,
James

  1. Fantastic news!! I've been desperately searching for an alternative, but nothing fitted the bill.

  2. Wow—this is fabulous news! I almost cried when you made the announcement to shut down. ;)

Really though, this is very encouraging. There is no other service I've found that's as good as Xmarks. (I still prefer the old name of "FoxMarks," but I'll forgive you for that.)

  3. Congratulations to you :)

  4. Great news!
I don't think I realised how much use I made of Xmarks until I thought it was about to disappear.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Xmarks is one of those rare things that works so well you hardly notice it's there just doing it's job....until it goes away. I am very glad that we can skip that whole going away part.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Wonderful Wonderful Wonderful!

I have relied on first FoxMarks, then Xmarks for a very long time...you've made my world a LOT easier...and I was stressing about what I was going to do without you!

Very glad to hear the news!

  7. YAY congratulations!! I'm not very computer savvy but the fact that I can access my bookmarks on both of my laptops gives me a very big happy :) I'm ever so glad you won't be going away - I did check around for alternatives and truly, nobody does this as well as you. Thank you for a kicka$$ product that even someone like me can use, lol!

  8. This is awesome. Bring on that premium service and perhaps and android app!

  9. "Still Alive" by JoCo would've been a better choice thank Pearl Jam, IMHO.

  10. "Do I deserve to be?"

Please don't hobble the free version so much that we are forced to pay an excessive amount for simple features. Thanks!

  11. Excellent news indeed. We're anxiously waiting for more information on the final deal, much more relieved now that our bookmarks will remain safe, sound and synchronized! :-)

    ReplyDelete
  12. Great news indeed! I'll follow that up closely.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Very exciting! With each sync over the past few weeks I've been a bit wistful in trying to imagine a life without Xmarks... it just wouldn't be the same.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Fantastic. My credit card is burning a hole in my wallet waiting for the premium service whatever it cintains.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Excellent! There are two add-ons I feel are critical to me: Xmarks and Lastpass. I am happy to pay a small annual fee to support both of these little, but hugely important, apps.

    Thank-you.

  16. Utterly amazing news! Congratulations!

  17. Companies should be so fortunate to have such loyal customers. You guys rock. Keep it up. :)

    ReplyDelete
  18. Awesome news. I really do not want to switch to delicious.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I'm very glad that Xmarks lives, as it is a critical part of my life since it syncs bookmarks and passwords across both Firefox and Chrome. I can't wait to see a Xmarks extension for Opera 11.

    ReplyDelete
  20. So awesome! My credit card is ready.

Btw - will the new buyer be picking up where you left off on a few things (such as the Android app?)

    ReplyDelete
  21. Good news James, looking forward to finding out more. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  22. Yes! That's awesome news! Congratulations!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Fantastic!
    My Credit card is ready.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Sweet! I would totally pay for Xmarks - it's right up there with Trillian as a must have on all my computers. Add an iOS version and I'll pay for that too.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Very good news! There's no sync service quite like Xmarks, so it's really good to know I can continue to rely on it for daily use!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Great news, you'll be getting some of my cash you earned by saving me time swapping between the motley collection of boxes and operating systems in my manor.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Congratulations! I was hoping things would work out. Don't know what I'd do with Xmarks.

    ReplyDelete
  28. This is excellent. Very happy to see Xmarks persisting!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Fantastic!
I've been an ardent fan for a long time.
Earlier this week I needed to restore all of my 2,000+ bookmarks.
The peace of mind I had in knowing that I could restore all of them (although I had previously never used the restore function ) was priceless.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I for one welcome are new Xmarks Overlords!

    ReplyDelete
  31. I am so happy to hear this! Congratulations, Xmarks!!!! ^_^

    ReplyDelete
  32. Thank you so very much for finding an alternative to a total shutdown. it would be nice if the re was a better way for you to monetize your service so cost of operation would be easer to handle. oh, and all i could think of when i read the lyrics was Still Alive from portal.

    ReplyDelete
  33. This is great news!! *Doing the happy dance*

    ReplyDelete
  34. I already was prompted to complete my pledge which I did. Are you going to be able to track the people who paid and give them the premium version?

    Dan

    ReplyDelete
  35. I'm ready to be premium. Bring it on...

    ReplyDelete
  36. WOO! So glad I came to check out this blog again. I was getting ready to migrate and was like, well, maybe they changed their mind. Shows you the power of users, eh?

    Thank you world!

P.S. I'm ready to pay for premium too.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Android app please. Thank you

    ReplyDelete
  38. Congrats Xmarks!! I'd really love to see the iPhone app import my bookmarks into Safari!! I can't wait to help out and become premium.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Great! Congrats to you and me ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  40. Good news to hear! I was wondering how I would be able to continue synching my bookmarks with multiple browsers and Mobile Me. :)

  41. Still Alive
    by Jonathan Coulton

    This was a triumph
I’m making a note here: huge success
It’s hard to overstate my satisfaction
    Aperture Science
We do what we must because we can
For the good of all of us
Except the ones who are dead
But there’s no sense crying over every mistake
You just keep on trying till you run out of cake
And the science gets done and you make a neat gun
For the people who are still alive

    I’m not even angry
I’m being so sincere right now
Even though you broke my heart and killed me
    And tore me to pieces
And threw every piece into a fire
As they burned it hurt because
I was so happy for you
Now these points of data make a beautiful line
And we’re out of beta, we’re releasing on time
So I’m glad I got burned, think of all the things we learned
For the people who are still alive

    Go ahead and leave me
I think I’d prefer to stay inside
Maybe you’ll find someone else to help you
    Maybe Black Mesa
That was a joke, ha ha, fat chance
    Anyway this cake is great
    It’s so delicious and moist
Look at me still talking when there’s science to do
When I look out there it makes me glad I’m not you
I’ve experiments to run, there is research to be done
On the people who are still alive

And believe me I am still alive
I’m doing science and I’m still alive
I feel fantastic and I’m still alive
And while you’re dying I’ll be still alive
And when you’re dead I will be still alive
    Still alive
    Still alive

  42. My hard earned money is going to be well spent protecting my hard earned bookmarks.

One thing I hope would be possible would be a way to check all of the bookmarks and flag those which have some kind of problem.

But that would be icing in an already well-baked cake. Bring on the premium option, I've got my own as well as my mother and father's bookmarks to pay for seperately. So you'll have my money three seperate times.

    Cheers!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Glad to hear it. When the android app finally arrives, thats when I'll dig into my pocket. Better be quick though before someone steals your thunder.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Excellent. I've been dreading moving to another service - or going back to manual mode.

    ReplyDelete
  45. You should think of merging with sugarsync that will be great!!
Also a android sync will be awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I'd really appreciate support for Opera... Might be with Opera 11 and its available API and plugin support...?

    ReplyDelete
  47. I second the request for an Opera version. Opera 11 will have plugin support, so it shouldn't be a problem, right?

    ReplyDelete
  48. Fantastic. I was hoping this would happen. I knew if it wasn't Xmarks, someone else was going to pop up and fill this void with such an ingenious idea. Eagerly awaiting to see the premium options.

    ReplyDelete
  49. thank you james, needed this.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  51. That sounds super awesome, thanks! Xmarks is such a help for me since I use several browsers for a special reason - thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  52. Congrats! Thanks so much for the support and updates for Xmarks all these years already! This is my favorite and most used plug in. I'm excited about the new premium options as well. :)

    ReplyDelete
  53. Yoohoo! Xmarks is a critical tool at work and home. Thank you!

    ReplyDelete
  54. Congratulations James and Xmarks! My bookmarks say "Yay"!

    ReplyDelete
  55. That is very good news, because I had tried other similar services before and didn't fully work well.

    ReplyDelete
  56. congratulation!!!

    ReplyDelete
  57. congrates

i am happy to find one of my favorite bookmark sync / backup tool getting strong.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Congrat Xmark!

    Freeware = no good

WE WOULD LIKE TO SPEND MONEY TO KEEP YOU RUNNING AND PROVIDING US GOOD SERVICE IN RETURN.

that's how it can work better in the future. So glad you guys sorted all these things out ;P

    ReplyDelete
  59. SC said: "Freeware = no good"

If you wanna pay, you're free to do so but your nonsense doesn't have anything to freeware which i) keeps PAYWARE more competitive; ii) keeps many payware developers to re-consider their chances while entering the market or think twice before they release smth new; iii) holds PAYWARE developers in leash! Nuff said... Anyway, don't wanna make a discussion here.

Just here to say that X-Marks did, does, and hopefully will do alot of good work for us for which some of us will be happy to pay!!! Good luck!

PS: Btw, have you find any solution to profiling problem in X-Marks - i.e. its ability to use different bookmarks with different profiles and/or selecting a profile under which a user wants to save a particular bookmark?!?

    Thanks you!

    ReplyDelete
  60. That is great news! Maybe now the problem with Xmarks creating duplicate bookmarks can be fixed. If that is corrected, I would have no issue paying a fee for premium service.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Oh please let it be LastPass - no other combination can be better! LastPass already solved the password sync problem on all desktop and mobile browsers and they sorely need a good bookmark sync component...

    ReplyDelete
  62. Agree. I've tried the so-called "free" options and they are not as cross platform compatible like XMarks. Good for you guys! I too would not have an issue supporting the company via a premium service.

    ReplyDelete
  63. :D I will sleep easier now, thank you.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Good to hear your news. However, I switched to another free service upon hearing about your closure. I wasn't happy being squeezed to pay. Hope the new owner can continue the service and make money. I'll stick with the replacement service.

    Xmarks forever!

    Congratulations.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Such great news!!!! I'm very happy to hear it, guys. You have a great product, and I would definitely pay for the premium option.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Because of your announcement, I switched to Chrome and will not look back. Good luck making money and coming back from the brink.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Awesome........So Glad to hear that the deal is in the works.....!!!
    X-Marks Forever.......!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  71. I am glad you will soon have a subscription service. I signed the Pledgebank and have been getting confusing and contradictory emails from Thorsten Biegner. I do not want BYOS version and other links lead to nothing. I want to contribute but only to Xmarks directly and for the relevant service. Thank you.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Is Xmarks will stay free or become a paid service ?

    ReplyDelete
  73. When i heard the news that you have to shut down the service i was very sad - at the moment i had a conversation with a friend of mine who is a firefox developer. Since then i kind of lost track and discovered by accident today that you are still alive :) *this was a triumph* Im very glad that my fellow users know the value of this service and - even though i cannot promise to take advantage of the paid content then - i'd be more than pleased to help you with a one-time-fee. Be assured that this service will always be my favorite - not only because im using it for quite a while now but also because it really deserves it places under the top internet gadgets.
greetings from germany and good luck!

    ReplyDelete
  74. I, also didn't see the pledge until it was too late and then I kept reading and found this post!! PLEASE do us all a favor and EMAIL your clients in regards to updates as we are all busy and could use a helpful reminder. I am a BIG fan of your service and do not like the other options that are available. Thanks for reconsidering!

    ReplyDelete
  75. That's great news! Long live Xmarks!

    ReplyDelete
  76. Excellent News! I was just looking for alternatives to your service when I found the news that Xmarks will probably stay alive, great! I would have signed the pledge if I had know about it and I will definitely pay some dollars to keep this service alive. This really made my day.

    ReplyDelete
  77. That's the best news this week!
Glad that all the support from the users over the past few months have made a difference and help to ensure continuity of a great product.

And as John said: Long live Xmarks!

    ReplyDelete
  78. This is the best news I've heard in a month. Far greater than daylight savings fallback!

    ReplyDelete
  79. Great but I am not paying for web services ever, so stay free or you could as well be dead to me lol

    ReplyDelete
  80. Fabulous ... this is wonderful news .. since September, there has been a little cloud hanging over my head as I dreaded the task of finding an Xmarks replacement. My pledge stands and I wait with eager anticipation for the value that your premium products will bring to me from your creative development team, who are obviously are very adept at anticipating the needs of the end-user.

    Thanks guys

    ReplyDelete
  81. Congratulations! Survivors!

    Live long and prosper

    ReplyDelete
  82. Awesome news, can not wait to hear all the details (well most of them...lol) But Xmarks has saved my life twice here in the last month, so I will be sticking around a long time, and good to hear your service will also.
    Thanks

    ReplyDelete
  83. this is awesome beyond words. i don't mind paying for something i use and truly believe in and this product/service is essential. i have different profiles for work and home and the other free stuff wasn't cutting it.

    long live Xmarks!!

    ReplyDelete
  84. This is great news! I use Xmarks often and hated the idea of losing it. It will be interesting to see what the premium service offers. Privacy is a prime requirement!

    ReplyDelete
  85. This truly is GREAT news! I used Apple's .Mac/MobileMe service for years and it let me down time and time again when it came to syncing bookmarks, passwords, et cetera between computers. Xmarks has been brilliant since day one and the only bummer was the looming end of the service. But now my worries are over and I can be a happy Xmarks customer for years to come. THANK YOU for finding a way to continue your GREAT service!

    ReplyDelete
  86. Oh THANK GOD!!!!!
I always refused to believe that something that actually works as well as it does could be thrown on the ash heap of software history. I am, however, filled with a bit of trepidation about the premium pricing. I have absolutely no problem paying for Xmarks but I do hope that the price won't be prohibitive for me in these economically hard times.

Whatever, good luck with your deal!

    DC

  87. WOOOHOOO!
Im so happy for you ! and happy for us users, I love Xmarks , it just works!

I am very happy for you and for us all. I just donated USD 15 before I got the message, but what the hell. It's for a good cause, and I don't mind paying for something that works as well and is as useful as Xmarks.

    Good luck!

  89. Hoooo noticia boa!!, aqui no brasil no existe nada parecido a este servicio...nem no mundo enteiro...Gracias a Dios eles voltaram!. Obrigadoooooooooo

  90. Congratulations to Xmarks' developer(s) and it's new owners! And congratulations to all those who - like me - were wondering "what now" upon hearing of Xmarks' demise!

    ReplyDelete
  91. This is wonderful news! Thank you for keeping us informed, and for all your hard work.

    ReplyDelete
  92. This will be the best Christmas present EVER (well, I guess that's a little bit of an exaggeration)!

    ReplyDelete
  93. As I just posted on Thorsten Biegner's pledge page (http://www.pledgebank.com/SaveXmarks#comments), could you please confirm if we are indeed supposed to hold the amount pledged in order to subscribe to the program when its Premium version will be available.

    Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  94. I am so pleased to hear the news! Xmarks is the most intuitive application I've used and far superior than other conventional, overpriced ones. 20 $ a year is a small price to pay for this product. Well done, everyone!

    ReplyDelete
  95. Paolo Alexis FalconeNovember 6, 2010 at 11:52 PM

Hopefully the next Xmarks version will have support for Opera 11, and probably Camino (or at least a generic framework so that Safari and Camino can use the same updater?). I'll gladly pay for those features (as I use Opera as my main browser on the Mac).

    ReplyDelete
  96. This is the best news I've heard all year. I've been moping around for 2 months trying to figure out which other "service" I could trust with my computers. I was going to choose the lesser of all those evils. Who knows what that would have been...

As you pointed out, you have not publicized this turn of events. I had to hold my breath and come back to the blog and HOPE everything was going to work out for the best.

I'm gratefully relieved. Good luck with your impending business deal. Make sure to tell your buyers they're getting a very loyal customer base.

  99. It is very good news for many users, who doesn't want to change favorite service with another one !
To tell you the truth so many "advanced" users from Russia were ready to pay for service and we are happy to stay with xmarks/Best regards!!!

    ReplyDelete
  100. Excellent News! I look forward to hearing hoe to contribute.

    ReplyDelete
  101. Thanks so much!

And to the new owner, thanks again and please dont fuck this great service up..;)

    ReplyDelete
  102. Excellent!

A huge thank you to everyone involved in making this happen!

Really, this service is a God-send!

    ReplyDelete
  103. I totally agree. I've tried others and they do not do what I want. YOU DO! I really hope the best FF bookmark add-on stays in my browser

    ReplyDelete

  105. YEAH!!!! :-) So glad to hear it.

  106. Very good news indeed. Ever heard the sound of relief ? :)

    ReplyDelete
  107. That's great, it's already Xmas time... :)

    ReplyDelete
  108. It's a huge relief that I don't have to look for a replacement for xmarks. I've gotten so used to your great service that I can't imagine my browsing experience without it.

Good luck and looking forward to the good news!

    ReplyDelete
  109. NICE!

I really hope that an extended version with some cost comes out. Just remember to keep it in down to a level where us students can pay for it :)

    ReplyDelete
  110. That is great news!
Keep doing the good work and don't hexitate about asking for support. We love Xmarks and Xmarks crew transparency

    ReplyDelete
  111. Awesome, awesome, awesome!!!

This is a great thing to hear, and I am grateful that this service will live on! To show that my gratitude is genuine (since words alone don't mean anything), I look forward to paying for a premium service.

I am sure those of you that were running the show when you had to break the bad news feel a sense of both humility and gratitude for the efforts of the "community" of users, not to mention feeling accomplished that you helped create and maintain a product worthy of such a passionate, committed group of potential customers!

Hopefully you don't feel like failures - your original goals may not have been realized, but in your pursuit you helped "realize" the needs of many of us in ways you may not have known existed. Call it success-by-coincidence, but it is success nonetheless!

    :)

    ReplyDelete
  112. Wonderful news! Xmarks is just too good to let it disappear. Bravo!

    ReplyDelete
  113. Thank you so much for making this happen! It was a nightmare looking for an alternative that came even half as close to the pure awesomeness that Xmarks is! You have my full support and I'd gladly register for a premium membership because xmarks is one of the very few services that has proved really useful in my daily internet usage!

    ReplyDelete
  114. yea good to hear; thanks for the effort dudez =)

    ReplyDelete
  115. Didn't know about the pledge till it was too late. But redy to pay.

    ReplyDelete
  116. great... now i dont have to worry about all the bookmarks that i had saved over the years

    ReplyDelete
  117. So great! Really nice to see Xmarks alive! Good fortune!

    ReplyDelete
  118. Upon seeing the "Alive" topic and a quote from a song, I started reading the lyrics, wondering why I didn't recognize where those words were in Portal's "Still Alive" end credits song. :p

    Congrats, Xmarks!!

    ReplyDelete
  119. Between work and home PCs and my iPhone4 xMarks and MobleMe is the only way I can keep all of my bookmarks in order.

One suggestion is that you add iPhone support. I would gladly pay $50 and cancel my MobileMe account.

    ReplyDelete
  120. Thanks so much for keeping us informed!

I am one of those who got the email some months ago, and I've been worried about the situation. I'm still apprehensive...my technical and (part of my) social life rely so much on being able to track sources of information, and I am also a student who can only pay a little.

I wonder which portions would be pay and which would be free?

Please, around $20 a year is about all some of us can afford, if that. Much higher, I'd have to say goodbye to this service.

    You guys have done great!

    ReplyDelete
  121. great job, +1 for the masses and the great people who run this service!

    ReplyDelete
  122. About time someone realized the financial incentive here. Astronomical!! Only wish I was an investor or a member of the original team. On that note.. keep my email address handy! I feel I can contribute. I was on the net when there was Windows 3.1. My first computer, Commodore 64. My first code, Fortran punch cards and a Tandy TRS-80. That should take you back. Perhaps before your time. Thanks for keeping X-Marks alive!

    ReplyDelete
  123. I'm glad Xmarks is here to stay.. I use this plugin regularly and across several PC. I'm willing to pay for the premium service.. make it affordable... More power to Xmarks! :-)

Great news!! Please remember to send EVERYONE an email when the deal is done, so that we all know when and how to sign up to continue with you. None of this relying on happenstance as it was with the pledge, when many did not know about it.

Good luck with working out the details. Hope that the new owner will let you keep running the show as you have been. You have done a fantastic job over the years. I knew we could rely on you to keep Xmarks alive.

    ReplyDelete
  125. Oh my god...I am almost in tears.. Long live Xmarks!!

    ReplyDelete
  126. good news, but what if I already erased my account on first announcement, when advised to delete account...? note: have NOT read through 140 comments to check if this question has already been asked.

    ReplyDelete
  127. Right On!

    ReplyDelete
  128. That's great news, very exciting.

I have removed Firefox sync on all my PC's and re-installed Xmarks.

    ReplyDelete
  129. This is great news! it is by far the most useful add in that is installed on my machines.

    ReplyDelete
  130. Great news!

I hope Xmarks will merge will Lastpass, that would be my two favorites in one packet.

There really is no good alternative for Xmarks so far.

I am wondering what the premium functionality will be. But the two combined would definitely be worth something anyhow.

  131. Awesome news! I knew you guys were too good to just close shop & would get snapped up. My personal hope is that you'll be acquired either by LastPass or Google - both of whom have strong cross-platform interests & can already count me as a loyal user.

  132. I am anxious to see what you guys have to offer in the premium option. I'm sure it will be great if the free option is as good as it is. Thanks for the update.

  133. That is absolutely wonderful news!!! I had posted about xMarks on my blog, and now I'm glad to share that xMarks lives on...;-)

The best of luck to you all...

  134. This is definitely good news for everyone who use XMarks to synchronize bookmarks because at least we won't have to worry about a great inter-browser bookmark synchronization like XMarks disappearing. I have used XMarks since the days when it was known as Foxmarks. I'm really happy to know that I will be able to continue using XMarks worry free.

  136. This is bull shit !!!!
What the hell you made that fucking anonsment before ? Just spent our times. Do you expect trust after that shit ?

  137. I couldn't be happier! I LOVE Xmarks!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  138. I'm pleased to learn that Xmarks will survive.

I've had a lot of problems with it lately, but am hoping that I can get it working properly again, because I don't think there's anything else out there to equal it (when it's actually working properly, that is).

  139. Hey good news. Long live xmarks.

One thing. If its being sold to a third party how secure will be our data?

    ReplyDelete
  140. YAY! goodbye deliscious! xmarks is back in town!

    ReplyDelete
  141. I hope that you merge with sugarsync.
I think you should limit the bookmark frequency for free users to once every hour, and limit the number of computers to 3, for example. I would also love a android app.

  142. I am so very happy to read this. :)

  143. Halleluiah!!!! Great news!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  144. This is absolutely brilliant news. Now all the new development team needs to do to earn my undying gratitude and subscription fee is to fix the much-reported bug that stops synchronisation failing to complete on Chrome. It seems to be related to keeping all bookmarks on the toolbar.

After much experimentation I have concluded there are no alternatives to XMarks which don't kill my productivity. Dropping Firefox is unthinkable, so the bug has killed my use of Chrome. Here's hoping and praying for a successful future for XMarks.

  145. Great news! I hope the deal can reach a successful conclusion.

  146. YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHAW, this Canuk said!

Well I'll be darned that's 99% good news (nothing's 100 percent until the fat lady sings)

Xmarks been working flawless for me and I have the lite version cuz I just love to keep my bookmarks to myself.

Keep it coming, and make sure you don't overdo the premium, I personally don't want a bulky program, KISS it baby!

To the new owners, make sure ya'll keep them hard working current people in NA and employed.

  147. Good to hear - now perhaps you can add support for RockMelt

    ReplyDelete
  148. Fantastic news! I actually uninstalled Xmarks for Safari because I thought it was going to disappear, I'm ecstatic to find it isn't.

I'm a cross browser user and I love that Xmarks can synch up all my browsers. I for one will be very interested in the premium features when they arrive.

I hope the buyer realises that this is a great business opportunity. If I had the cash I'd buy the company!

    Long live Xmarks!

  149. That just ROCKS.

    Xmarks forever <3

  150. Glad to know you are still kicking some bad ass that try to copy what Xmarks had already time doing it just fine.
Some minor bugs with new FF4beta7 but WTH (hell) that is totally expected (quite normal) in new betas (just released few days).
My wish is to have a premium account and I will be more than happy if you gonna make plans to add Android compatibility, I know it will be hard but it will be nice if you make a try.

Again Thanks for all the TEAM at Xmarks and happy to be close for many years more. 8-)

    ReplyDelete
  151. Hooray! You're not leaving! I am so relieved. Now, can you make your add-in compatible with the Firefox 4 Beta 7 I just downloaded? I didn't know about the pledge but I would happily subscribe. I am dependent on Xmarks for my life's happiness.

    ReplyDelete
  168. Huh, deleted my XMarks settings just a week ago after another mail about service shutdown...

    ReplyDelete
  169. I've just started using xmarks, not knowing that you'd be shutting down. Your product is clean and reliable, and I'm glad to hear it'll keep on doing good things for all of us. Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  170. Great! This is the best ever add-on I've ever used! I can't imagine my job without it. Ready to pay for it, because the thing is worth!

    ReplyDelete
  171. Its true i'm starting to like xmarks, after i registered today and try to sync adding bookmark is not available. My friend recommend me that this is a great bookmarking. If this new owner fully give time on this site that would be great and good luck.

    ReplyDelete
  172. Now this is great news, you can count me as one of the premium costumers. I have been looking around for a sync service like Xmarks since the first "shutdown" mail. And have't found anything quite like it yet (they are all missing your excellent bookmark browser), and hopefully I don't need to :D

Time to throw the other crap out and embrace Xmarks again...

    ReplyDelete
  173. Thank FSM! Seriously, this is AWESOME news.

    ReplyDelete
  174. nice news!

but the xmarks will function until wich date?

    ReplyDelete
  175. I never saw the e-mail about pledging $10 per year - I would be more than willing to pay $10 per year but did not get a chance to pledge since the e-mail did not go out to the user base...
I am so happy to hear that xmarks will continue! Thanks and keep us posted.

    ReplyDelete
  176. Thank you all for bringing back X-marks. I missed the pledging but I'll gladly pay/donate.

    ReplyDelete
  177. I missed the pledging too but only because I never knew there was one otherwise I would have gladly signed. $10 a year? With all due respect its ridiculously cheap compared to what XMarks has to offer.

    ReplyDelete
  178. I don´t know what to say, except:

    YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!

Xmarks its reliable, stable, easy to use. Simply the best of its kind. I would gladly pay for it.
