Xmarks for Safari 1.3.8 has been released and is now available for download!
You can download the updated version directly from the Xmarks download page. If you're already using Xmarks for Safari or had it previously installed, be sure to run the uninstall option included in the download.
This update includes fixes for a number of reported bugs in Mac 10.7 (Lion) and the re-release of Open Tab Sync for Safari. Open Tab Sync is now fully supported in all browsers and will no longer require the installation of LastPass.
We continue to work to address the issues reported by users. If you're seeing ongoing errors, first try uninstalling and reinstalling the addon, as this fixes a large number of known issues.
More updates and improvements on the way, stay tuned!
I just read and searched the full help manual, and nowhere does it explain why my folder labelled "Bookmarks Bar" has a padlock on its folder icon, and why the duplicator won't work on that specific folder. Can you please explain why?
ReplyDeleteDoes this update fix the integration with iCloud?
ReplyDeleteI mean, with previous Xmarks version 1.3.6, each time that you made a change in your bookmarks in a non Apple browser such as Chrome or Firefox, even that internally Lion's Safari also showed it, the change was never synced to IOS5 Devices.
The way around, so a change made in Apple's Lion or IOS5 Safari, always got synced with the other browsers through Xmarks cloud.
So the problem was that iCloud didn't trigger when the changes were made through Xmarks. iCloud only triggered when changes came from any Apple's browser in Lion or IOS.
I'm going to answer to myself. No the bug is still there. Amber, is Xmarks going to make it possible to have dual sync Xmarks & iCloud in future Xmarks versions? it is just about forcing Lion Safari to trigger iCloud when Xmarks made a change in Safari's Bookmarks when syncing this change from any other non Apple browser through Xmarks cloud. If Xmarks doesn't force this trigger, I'm sure that Apple won't make it possible due to competition reasons with Xmarks bookmarks cloud and other 3rd party browsers.
ReplyDeletelooks great! But you need to update the growl framework so that xmarks supports the latest growl app.
ReplyDeleteWhen are we going to see Xmarks supporting Safari on Windows?
ReplyDeleteWhen will we see a windows version??
ReplyDeleteIs Xmarks shutting down their browser sync service on January 10, 2011? I saw this message when I downloaded Ver 1.3.8 from MacUpdate.
ReplyDeleteIs it true that Xmarks will be shutting down their browser sync service on January 10, 2011? This note is posted on MacUpdate.

ReplyDeleteHi, I don't know if there is a forum or where exactly to post this but I will go ahead and say...
ReplyDeleteIs there any possible way to you guys could make a little shortcut to access the folders (on the bookmarks bar), persay by expanding the folder? (For example: my top left folder on the bar is named "Youtube Fav's". Needless to say but over time this youtube fav folder has alot of pages in it for different kinds of music. I use it sort of as a library of some of my kind of genres/interests. This is similarly done with other programs, for example by hitting Alt + "F" I would expand the File menu. I used to use my alt key to open menus and I do use shortcut keys very often. All my bookmarks have a different first letter (they are all folders to by the way, all the actual bookmarked pages are in one of the folders on the bookmarks bar.) Also, if there are any shortcuts out there already for doing something like this, would someone care to enlighten me? Maybe the shortcut could be like Alt + Shift or something?
How do I uninstall Safari Xmarks? I have used it since it was called foxmarks, but never before have I had any trouble like this. Time and time again, on all my (three) Macs I get dialogboxes telling med that there is a problem with sync.
ReplyDeleteI cannot find a "addons" in Safari, what do I do?
Also, shouldnt this blog be a bit more regulated? Most of the post is about stocktrading in india....
I found the info, sorry to have bothered you all. http://helpdesk.xmarks.com/uninstalling-and-deleting/#Safari+under+OS+X

Works fine on my Mac OSX Safari, why can it not run on my IPad Safari?
ReplyDeletePeriodically, Safari XMARKS hangs on sync. I must manually stop, and download from server. I also run Google Chrome (17.0.963.56) that presents no problems.

Amendment to above post: The following is the message I receive.:
Delete"Xmarks has detected an error while synchronizing your bookmarks. Downloading the current snapshot from the server usually fixes this, but will cause you to lose any local changes that have not been synchronized. Would you like to perform a download?"
This only occurs under SAFARI,
It is really misleading to say your Xmarks works with Safari when it does not in fact work on Windows Safari.
ReplyDeleteYou need to state that clearly if you care about being ethical.
