Update on Xmarks for Chrome

12/9/09 UPDATE: Google has released a new beta version of Chrome with extensions support. Xmarks is fully supported and can be installed from this page in the Google Extensions Gallery.

—————————–

We’re getting lots of emails and tweets asking about Xmarks for Chrome, so we thought we’d post a quick update here.

There’s an open alpha test of Xmarks for Chrome available at beta.xmarks.com. Before you get too excited, please note that Google is still in the early stages of supporting extensions on Chrome and is currently only supporting them in their “Dev Channel” version of Chrome. Translation: Xmarks for Chrome only works in the unstable Dev version of the Chrome browser and is not for the faint of heart. You can read more about the Chrome Dev Channel here.

If you’re interested in living on the bleeding edge and trying the alpha Xmarks for Chrome, do the following:
1. Head over to beta.xmarks.com (you’ll need your Xmarks login to gain access)
2. Look for the beta program called “Xmarks for Chrome Alpha” and click “Get Started”
3. Follow the download instructions and you’ll be syncing in no time! Be sure to check out the known issues page while you’re there.

I’m sure you’re all wondering: when do we get a “Stable Channel” release of Xmarks for Chrome? As soon as Google releases a Stable Channel version of Chrome with extension support. Google has not released any timing specifics for this, but we are hopeful that it will happen in the near future.

Thanks for your patience as we “polish” Xmarks for Chrome!

Thanks team, for your great progress with Chrome. However, Opera is a really urgent priority. So please, dear Xmarks development team, you must know there are very many loyal Xmarkers desperately waiting for you to focus on creating “Xmarks for Opera”!

James; Xmarks for Opera is available, what’s the issue?

Sander: Xmarks is available for Firefox, Internet Explorer and Safari, but not for Opera.

Xmarks running fine here, I am using Chrome

Good to know!

Thanks for the update!

cheers

The xmarks for chrome not support passwords, this one will go change?

I think xmarks is great because it works on Firefox on my Linux machine. Is there any chance for eventual xmarks supoprt on Chromium, and/or an eventual version of Google Chrome for Linux?

I downloaded Xmarks for Chrome but when the browsers try to load it I receive an error message:

Invalid value for ‘toolstrips[0]‘

Solutions?

I’ve got the same error as Gilberto Lacchia

Invalid value for ‘toolstrips[0]‘

Looking forward to the solution.
